The Mining Qualifications Authority entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MoU) with the Chamber of Mines (CoM) in August 2004. In terms of the MoU, the CoM will coordinate the development of Learning Materials for the MQA unit standard based Learnerships on behalf of the MQA. The MQA Accredited Training Providers (ATP) will do the actual development of the Learning Materials. The CoM is responsible for allocating the unit standards to the different MQA ATP. The ATP are required to sign a “Power of Attorney” for the CoM to act on their behalf and also stipulating a number of terms in which agreements are concluded between the CoM and the developers.
