CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FROM UNEMPLOYED LEARNERS IN THE MINING AND MINERALS SECTOR WHO ARE INTERESTED IN PARTICIPATING IN THE JOINT MQA AND NSF ARTISAN DEVELOPMENT PROJECT
The Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) is a Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) for the Mining and Minerals Sector in terms of the Skills Development Act No. 97 of 1998.
The MQA is calling for applications from unemployed learners who want to participate in the project for the training of young people in Artisan learnerships/apprenticeships. This is a joint project funded by the MQA and the National Skills Fund (NSF) of the Department of Labour. The project is aimed at registering 1000 learners/apprentices in the following disciplines:
Interested Learners are required to register with their nearest Department of Labour Centres as work seekers as companies will directly recruit from the Labour Centres. Learners must either have Grade 12 with maths and science or an N2 qualification in the relevant discipline. Preference will be given to historically disadvantaged South Africans citizens.

The application form is available on request from the persons stated above, and it must be accompanied by a certified copy of South African ID and proof of highest qualification obtained.
Applications must reach the MQA Office by end of business on 30 January 2009.
