APPLICATION FOR 2009 – 2010 DISCRETIONARY FUND ALLOCATIONS FOR COMPANIES IN THE MINING AND MINERALS SECTOR
The Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) is calling all companies in the Mining and Minerals Sector to submit applications in order to access discretionary funds in the 2009 – 2010 financial year.
The Skills Development Regulations Gazette No. 8278 as amended makes provision for this practice in that it requires: “Each SETA must prepare and distribute a schedule setting out the criteria in terms of regulation 8 and the dates by which applications for the discretionary grants contemplated in regulation 7 must be submitted”.
It is against this background that the MQA has developed a schedule setting out the criteria for each discretionary grant to be available in the 2009 – 2010 financial year and the application requirements thereof.
The application forms must be submitted to the MQA by 16H00 on 27 February 2009 where after companies will be informed of the outcomes of their applications by 31 March 2009.
NOTE: Where companies have different sites with different Levy numbers, the sites must apply individually, with no exception (this does not apply to the ISO grant).
Application forms can also be collected from the MQA office: 4th Floor, Union Corporation Building, 74-78 Marshall Street, Johannesburg.
