The Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) is a Public Entity in terms of the Mine Health and Safety Act, 1996 and is also registered as a Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) in terms of the Skills Development Act, 1998.
The MQA hereby invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced Independent members wishing to serve on its Audit Committee as required in terms of Section 51 of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), Act No. 1 of 1999, (as amended by Act 29 of 1999), Section 3 of the Treasury Regulations issued in terms of the PFMA and Section (8) (5) of the MQA Constitution.
Requirements

A matric certificate together with appropriape qualifications

Minimum 3-year degree or National Diploma in the field of Accounting, Auditing, Legal or Finance

Experience in the field of Accounting, Auditing, Legal or Finance

Appropriate experience and/or knowledge of the Public Service and public entities would be a strong recommendation

Previous experience as a member of an Audit Committee in the public sector and/or public entity would be advantageous

Membership in a Professional Body will also serve as a strong recommendation
Remuneration
Term of office
The term of office will be for two (2) years, commencing on 01 September 2012 until 31 August 2014, depending on performance.
The selection procedure
The short-listed candidates will be invited for interviews to be conducted by a panel appointed by the MQA Board. It will be the prerogative of the Board to make the final appointment upon recommendation by the Selection Committee.
